William Schoenhard is a retired healthcare executive who has served in a variety of senior executive positions with Deaconess Hospital and SSM Health Care. Most recently he was the Deputy Under Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. At Deaconess Nurse Ministry, he serves on the Development Committee and focuses on ensuring the future viability and relevance of our mission.

William is an active philanthropist around St. Louis. He serves on the Board at Gene Slay’s Girls and Boys Club of St. Louis, Lindenwood University; and Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

He received as B.S in public administration from the University of Missouri and a Master of Health Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He has been awarded the Gold Medal Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Distinguished Service Award from the Missouri Hospital Association and the Exemplary Service Award from St. Louis University School of Public Health. He is a former U.S. Navy officer and Vietnam War Veteran.
